Manning Memorial Chapel
From Monday to Friday, every week throughout the academic semester, the Chapel holds two short services per day. These services allow us to take our minds away from the busyness of classes and work and focus on God. These services are from 11:30-11:50 am and 6:15-6:30 pm. Once a week, one of the chapel assistants speaks during the morning service - typically on Thursday.
This year we are adding a mid-week Communion service to our schedule. Each Wednesday during term, we will have an abbreviated service of worship that includes this sacrament. For ten minutes prior to the service, beginning at 11:20 a.m. our University and Chapel organist, Mr. John Scott, will play special music as a prelude and time of reflection and preparation for the service. He will similarly conclude the service with special music as we prepare to go back out into the world via this campus. All are welcome.
THIS WEEK @ the CHAPEL
This is a non-denominational Christian service that is open to everyone. We frequently have guest speakers which include local clergy, professors as well as students. Please join us - and bring a friend!
The theme for the Fall term is "Where in the world is God?" Preaching this week will be the Chaplain, the Rev'd. Tim McFarland. Special music this week will be provided by Matt Stanislaus, a graduate of Acadia and a classical guitarist.
Join Chaplain Tim as he takes a stroll through the works of different disciplines in the university and finds out what if anything spirituality can say in dialogue. Different guests from other areas in the campus will contribute to those evenings.
Want to eat a free meal? Want to read an intriguing book? Join Chaplain Virginia for a meal, Souper Supper, and discussion on an inspirational and thought-provoking Christian book. Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis (of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe fame) offers "to explain and defend the belief that has been common to nearly all Christians at all times. Rejecting the boundaries that divide Christianity's many denominations, C.S. Lewis provides an unequaled opportunity for believers and non-believers alike to hear a powerful, rational case for the Christian faith." All are welcome to participate - and the more, the merrier!
Grieving is a natural part of life, following any incident that deprives us of a relationship or which marks a major change in our lives. Even moving from high school to univerrsity, or to a new home, even if temporary, can cause us to become sad and prevent us from living fully and joyfully. The good news is that you are not alone. EVERYBODY grieves, althought the grief process is different for everyone. Join us as we explore some of the causes of grief and how to deal with and grow through our grief in healthy ways so that we can reclaim the peace and wholeness in our lives that is a part of God's plan and purpose for us. Following our 11:30 am worship service, join Chaplain Virginia for a light lunch (provided) and noon hour opportunity for support.
This service is held by St. Francis Roman Catholic Church to provide a student-driven Catholic worship service on campus.

Also, do you have ideas for study or discussion? Or perhaps you just want to be part of a support or study group. In either case, check out what we are offering this term, and if you don't see what you want, just ask the chaplains there are probably others out there who want the same thing.
